New Mixed-Use High-Rise in Austin, Developed by Chicago-based Magellan

Sep 27, 2019

AMPA, Fla – September 27, 2019 – GRECO is pleased to announce they have been awarded the railing package for an exciting new development in Austin, Texas, a mixed-use tower on 5th & Brazos.

Located in downtown Austin, TX, this mixed-use development will rise 357 feet and consist of retail, residential, hotel, and amenity spaces. Chicago-based developer, Magellan, and Chicago-based designer, bKL Architecture, are working with general contractor Ryan Companies to design and achieve LEED Silver. This 770,000 square-foot development will include 3,900 linear feet of GRECO’s 7/16” thick SGP “SentryGlas® Plus” laminated glass railing.

“It’s exciting to continue to be part of the growth in Austin, Texas and to work on another Magellan project” says Jim Ellsworth, President of GRECO’s US Operations.

According to bKL’s webstie, the tower is shifted outside of the perimeter of the podium, highlighting the residential entry by allowing the tower to come to the ground. Integrated balconies enhance the tower’s overall composition. The building’s shifted massing allows for multiple roof decks, providing shared amenity spaces at different levels.

The 5th & Brazos tower is sure to be an Austin destination. The project is expected to be complete in Q1 of 2021.
